About Secret Network

Powering Web3 Privacy

Secret Network is the first mainnet blockchain with privacy-preserving smart contracts, launched in 2020. On the live network, Secret Contracts encrypt input, output, and state inside a trusted execution environment on the consensus path. A draft that is not community-ratified takes that work off validators onto an admitted confidential virtual machine. That draft is not how mainnet runs today. The underlying ledger stays transparent and auditable.

Essential for Web 3

Why Secret takes your privacy seriously

Ethereum revolutionized blockchain by introducing smart contracts—self-executing code enabling decentralized applications beyond payments. However, most blockchains are public by default, exposing all transactions and interactions, which isn’t viable for sensitive use cases like sharing health data with a doctor or financial details with an accountant.

Use Cases

The possibilities Secret Contracts unlock

On the live network, Secret Contracts encrypt input, output, and state inside a trusted execution environment on the consensus path, and that data stays hidden unless access is given. A draft that is not community-ratified takes this work off validators onto an admitted confidential virtual machine. That is a later design, not the network as it runs today.

Use cases

Secret Tokens

Hold and use your tokens in privacy. With Secret Bridges and the SNIP-20 standard you can bridge tokens and use a viewing key, which is the live contract tool for reading private balances. A SNIP-20 execute is still visible as an interaction: the sender’s address, the token contract, and the fact of the interaction are public, even when the amount and recipient are not. The draft’s money confidential virtual machine is the later model, with public wrap and unwrap, and that draft is not community-ratified.

Secret DeFi

Stay safe while spending, saving, and trading. DeFi apps built with Secret’s privacy-preserving smart contracts provide MEV-resistance by default and protect its users from hackers and front-runners. This includes exchanges, market makers, lending protocols, and more.

Secret NFT's

Fully own all of your creative work. With Secret NFTs’ private metadata and ownership, creators can control who can access their content and in what way, protect the identity of their fans, and create art and entertainment not possible elsewhere.

Secret Gaming

Design & play with true randomness. With Secret NFTs, game designers can build in true randomness without having to move off-chain. This powers real competitive gaming—instead of a game of chain analysis—and opens up a world of new design possibilities.

How Secret Contracts work

Secret Network’s live contracts encrypt input, output, and state inside a trusted execution environment on the consensus path. A draft that is not community-ratified moves that private execution off validators onto an admitted confidential virtual machine. Intel TDX is the intended shape. Validators in the draft are ordinary Cosmos nodes: they do not run an enclave on the consensus path and they do not hold application keys.

Secure Data Processing

TEEs for computing over encrypted data

A trusted execution environment encrypts workload memory against ordinary host software and can identify a code image by measurement. That raises the cost for a remote attacker or a curious host. It does not defeat a physical owner of an admitted machine, and attestation does not. On the live network, validators run contract code inside that environment on the consensus path. A draft that is not community-ratified takes private execution off that path onto an admitted confidential virtual machine. Two-of-two custody of wrapping keys in the draft is not multi-party computation, and it is not multi-party evaluation of guest logic.

Controlled Data Access

Viewing keys for access control

On the live network, viewing keys are how users read encrypted contract data and how they can share that access with an auditor, a wallet, or an explorer. A viewing key does not hide the fact of a SNIP-20 execute. The draft does not add a new key-management product. Its later money model uses public wrap and unwrap, and it is not community-ratified.

Our Vision

Building to become the Web3 privacy hub

Cosmos IBC-enabled

Secret Network uses CosmWasm as the live contract engine, and IBC to interact with the Cosmos ecosystem. A draft that is not community-ratified does not run CosmWasm on the consensus path. Private work that would have been a confidential contract is a measured confidential virtual machine that checkpoints to the chain.

Private data, public ledger

Data stays private, while SCRT and code remain public for full transparency and auditability.

Delegated Proof-of-Stake consensus

DPoS enables 10,000+ transactions per second, eco-friendly operations, and governance participation.

Independent consensus layer

With its own validators, Secret Network optimizes privacy, performance, and continuous upgrades.g developers and users with robust tools.
